Goodbye, Apartment 206 | Leaving Los Angeles

January 13, 2021

Goodbye, Apartment 206.

You’ve been a great home for our little family. We have made many memories here and for that I’m grateful. Your front door welcomed many, including our daughter for the very first time. In your walls we became a family of three.

First Family Photo

I’ll miss the loud crack our daughter’s door makes every time it opens, the burn spot above the stove where I once lit broth on fire, the sun-stained kitchen floor where I always let the light in, the balcony covered in dirt from a happy toddler, the pitter patter of Aletheia’s feet as she ran around wildly and we tried to keep her from jumping too much.

I’ll remember all the times I stood at that kitchen counter washing dishes or making dinner thinking about all the ways that God has blessed us, listening to podcasts and Bible passages.

Washing Dishes

I’ll remember painting at the table, getting it absolutely everywhere and scraping it off later. I’ll remember taking hundreds of walks around the neighborhood, finding our favorite path, and returning day by day. I’ll remember the late nights with the baby, working on projects, or simply binging a move series.

Moving on to a new place is exciting but leaving behind a home is excruciating. I know there will be new memories to make and a new place to call home. But I also know I’ll miss this little apartment we’ve lived in for most of our marriage.

So, thank you, apartment 206, for housing us these years. And, thank You, Lord, for providing it for us.

As I walked out of our place for the last time I had to say it out loud, “Goodbye, apartment 206.”

On to new adventures in the UK!
