Praying and singing the Psalms are basic Christian responsibilities. It has been said that “The Psalms are the steady, sustained subcurrent of healthy Christian living. They shaped the praying and vocation of even Jesus Himself. They can and will do the same for us.”
Studying the Psalms contextually and biblically is a worthy effort in and of itself. But it is a different task to dwell in the Psalms, praying them, singing them, and living them out in your life.
To help you in singing the Psalms, I’ve compiled several Spotify playlists to choose from! Some only contain the words directly from Scripture. Others are more based on particular Psalms and are not word-for-word. These songs have all been a blessing in my own life and I pray that they can be the same for you.
Save these playlists and go back to it again and again. As you learn the Psalms and sing them in this way, I know they will encourage and strengthen you throughout your days. Whether you are working around the house, commuting to work, on a long trip, or whatever else you may be doing, listen to these songs that are God’s Words from Psalms.
This first playlist has songs for each Psalm from 1-150. There are some that are modern and some that directly from Scripture, enjoy!
This second playlist I’ve compiled is a collection of Choral Psalms. While modern songs are helpful and encouraging, there’s something especially uplifting about choral arrangements of the Psalms. If you’ve not had the pleasure of listening to some of these, give it a try and let me know what you think.
The 3rd and final Psalms playlist is by the band Poor Bishop Hooper. A few years ago, they went through every single Psalm and wrote a song for each. I was so blessed by their weekly releases and I often listen to their Every Psalm playlist as I’m working around the house. You should too!
Between those 3 playlists you have hours and hours of singing the Psalms and lots of variety in style and genre. I pray that they are a blessing and help to you as you read and study the book of Psalms.
Psalm 8:1 says, “O, Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” and we can praise Him with our listening/singing!
