A Few Of My Favorite Things (February 2020)

March 2, 2020

Another month, another list of items that I’ve found helpful! These are just a few of my favorite things that have helped me run my home in the last month (February).

For My Heart

Streams in the Desert — Devotional Book

This devotional is one that I have kept at my bedside for a while now. I just recently started reading it again and, wow, what thoughtful entries for each day! I love that she includes poems, verses, and quotes from other authors to encourage you each day. There is always a quick, insightful lesson to be learned and an encouragement to gain when you open this devotional. It’s perfect for when I only have a few minutes to read something quickly… which happens a lot in mom life!

For My Kitchen

Vitamix — Blender

My Vitamix has been my lifeline this month! I got my wisdom teeth removed last week and you know that means I’ve been having smoothies and blended foods a lot! One thing I learned is that you can buy separate parts for the Vitamix blenders rather cheaply on Amazon. So when I found that my container had a crack and, therefore, a leak, I easily found the replacement. And installing it was very simple!

Snack Bags

While I am not super concerned with saving the planet, I realized that I spent the same amount of money on plastic bags every month that I would spend on a one time purchase of reusable snack bags for A. So, I decided to go with the reusable ones this time! They are great, very easy to clean and very easy to open/close. My toddler can easily open them (not sure if that’s always a good thing). The inside is water resistant and they are completely washable. I just throw them in the wash with my kitchen towels and they’re good to go. And these come in several different patterns, I love the avocado one.

For My Home

Mrs. Meyer’s Basil Hand Soap

I love this hand soap! Not only is it natural and free of harmful chemicals, but it actually bubbles up like soap and gets your hands clean. I usually keep the pump bottles and just by this reusable one that I’ve linked to refill the bottles with. I like this scent in particular because it has the least harmful ingredients in it (more on that below).

For My Phone

Think Dirty App

If you are concerned about chemicals, parabens, phthalates, etc. in the products you buy, then you need this app! You can simply search in this app for any product that you are considering and see what rating that product has. If it is high in chemicals and harmful ingredients, it will score higher on the 1-10 scale. I’ve really loved using this app… but be warned that it is easy to get caught constantly looking up random items in your home!

For Going Out

Purse Organizer

I recently found a big tote bag at the thrift store which I love! It is reversible, has a shoulder strap, blush color… but the only problem is that it has no pockets! Since I purchased it for around $2 at the thrift store, I decided to try out this purse organizer from Amazon. This is THE cheapest one I could find, but I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality! The zippers are perfect for keeping things organized and the pocket in the middle holds my wallet really well.

Well, there you have it. My short and sweet list of favorite things from February 2020. What are some things you are using right now? Let me know in the comments!
